Action Learning Leadership Skills Programme

This programme is for up to 10 managers and leaders working together over one year and consists of 6 -8 one day workshops. 'Leadership skills' is an experiential course, based on the principles of 'Action Learning' and combines professional and personal development with skills building.

This experience will support you to be a skilled and highly effective leader, meeting your organisations and your personal objectives and targets by building on your experience of managing yourself and your people.

The benefits of this experience

How the 'leadership skills' experience works

We will meet together between 6 and 8 times, and each meeting will be led and facilitated by Maine-Stream. The first meeting will be a 24 hour residential and will be organised by us. Dates thereafter will be agreed by the group, but will normally entail meeting for a whole day every 6 to 8 weeks. The group will be no more than 10 members, all members committing to attend all 6 days.

The days will be run as action learning sets. This means that each member of the group is encouraged to bring real time issues, challenges, successes, to discuss and debate. Each member has some 'time' to present their issues and to be facilitated by Maine-Stream and the group to explore the issue more deeply and to problem solve in order to take action. With the help of the group you will come out of each meeting with clear actions that you have committed to carrying out in your workplace.

The first day will be a getting to know each other and skills building day. In my experience leaders often do not use their skills of facilitation and coaching and time spent reflecting and reviewing and reflecting on action is often not a normal part of a busy schedule. This experience will provide the space, time and support for you to do this.

The commitment from you

You will need to be committed to attending every meeting - this sort of work needs everyone to be at every meeting (as far as possible, of course). After the first date we will book future meeting days together to suit everyone.

You will need to be open minded, and prepared to learn, to be challenged and supported and to challenge and support others, and to share your expertise and experiences with the group
